Cookie's
A cookie is a small file placed on a internet user computer by
a website.
These cookie's can be blocked or saved by your internet
browser (internet explorer or Netscape) based on your internet security
settings.
The main purpose of these cookie's is to record your personal
setting i.e. passwords , user id ,credit card details ,address ,email etc so
next time you visit the site you don't have to enter the same info again thus
saving time. The only problem is that some websites use cookie's to spy on you
and use them to track your browsing.
Some people choose to block all cookie's for security reasons
the only problem is that some sites will not work correctly without them
enabled.
In internet explorer 6 all cookie's can be deleted by clicking
on "internet options" in the "tools" menu and in the temporary files section
clicking on delete cookies.
If want to see the cookie files on your computer , in the
temporary files section click on "setting" .Once the new menu appears click on
"view files" .This will show all your temporary internet files including
cookies. on your pc ,you can right click a particular file and choose to delete it.
If you find out a website has left a un-desirable cookie on
your system you can add this website to the restricted zone in your security
setting. This will give a higher security setting to this web site when you next
visit the site and cookies will be BLOCKED.
Note
If your security settings blocks a cookie the a eye symbol
will appear in the bottom menu bar in your browser. if you click on this it will
show you what cookie has been blocked ,from here you can decide weather to allow
the cookie in future or not for a particular website.
